Handy Hints — Wennerwenke

Do you want to get rid of stale bread? Don't, because you can still use it.
Wil jy van ou brood ontslae raak? Moenie, want jy kan dit nog gebruik.

  • Croûtons: Fry thick slices of stale bread in clean oil until crisp and brown. Cut into 1cm cubes and sprinkle over soup just before serving.
  • Bread crumbs: Cut the bread in slices and dry in low oven until completely dry. Grind in a liquidizer or fold in a cloth or put in a paper bag and roll or crush with a rolling pin. Store in an airtight container.
  • Pudding: See recipe for Bread Pudding under PUDDINGS.
  • Poultry Stuffing: See recipe for Poultry Stuffing under POULTRY.
  • Dog Food: Soak in milk and feed it to your dog.
    OTHER HINTS:
  • Having problems to cut fresh bread? Warm knife in boiling water and dry quickly before cutting the bread.
  • Croûtons: Braai dik sny oue brood in skoon olie tot bros en bruin. Sny in blokkies van 1cm en sprinkel oor sop net voor opdiening.
  • Broodkrummels: Sny brood in snye en droog stadig in lou oond totdat dit heeltemal droog is. Maal in 'n versapper of vou toe in 'n vadoek of sit in 'n papiersak en rol of druk fyn met 'n koekroller. Bêre in 'n lugdigte houer.
  • Nagereg: Sien resep vir Broodpoeding onder NAGEREGTE.
  • Pluimvee-vulsel: Sien resep vir Pluimvee-vulsel onder PLUIMVEE.
  • Hondekos: Week in melk en gebruik as hondekos.
