EGGS
  • Shell boiled eggs immediately to prevent a black ring forming around the yolk.
  • Store leftover egg yolk in a cup in the fridge and cover with cold water to stop a skin forming. Use within four days.
  • Freeze eggs beaten with a pinch of salt for up to three months.
  • To test whether an egg is fresh, drop it carefully into a measuring jug filled with 600ml water. If the egg is very fresh, it will lie on its side at the bottom.
  • Never cook an egg in its shell in a microwave oven because it will explode.
  • EIERS
  • Dop gekookte eiers dadelik af om te keer dat 'n swart ring om die eiergeel vorm.
  • Bêre eiergeel in 'n koppie in die yskas en bedek met koue water om te keer dat 'n skil vorm. Gebruik binne vier dae.
  • Eiers geklits met 'n knippie sout kan vir drie maande gevries word.
