Pot-bread — Potbrood

Potjiekos without pot-bread is unheard of. It will be difficult to find an easier
recipe than this one.

Potjiekos sonder potbrood is net nie dieselfde nie. ’n Makliker resep as hierdie

Ingredients:
500g self-raising flour
1 packet ox-tail soup powder
1ml salt
1ml cayenne pepper
125ml grated Cheddar cheese
500ml buttermilk

Method:

  • Mix all the ingredients and scoop into a greased flat-bottomed pot or a greased breadpan.
  • Bake for one hour between coals or for 45 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 180°C.
    Variations:
  • Replace the ox-tail soup powder with brown onion soup powder.
  • Replace the cayenne pepper, cheese and buttermilk with 1 can of beer.
  • Bestanddele:
    500g bruismeel
    1 pakkie beesstertsopoeier
    1ml sout
    1ml rissiepeper
    125ml gerasperde Cheddarkaas
    500ml karringmelk

    Metode:

  • Meng al die bestanddele en skep in ’n gesmeerde platboompotjie of in ’n gesmeerde broodpannetjie.
  • Bak sowat 1 uur tussen die kole of 45 minute in ’n oond by 180°C.
    Variasies:
  • Vervang die beesstertsoppoeier met bruin uiesoppoeier.
  • Vervang die rissiepeper, kaas en karringmelk met 1 blikkie bier.
