Baked Sago Pudding Gebakte sagopoeding
Like many modern working mothers, Jackie Pienaar, owner of Jacqueline Pienaar Properties in Nylstroom, does not spend many time in the kitchen. Her baked sago pudding is a big favourite though.
Jackie Pienaar, eienaar van Jacqueline Pienaar Eiendomme op Nylstroom, het nie tyd om onnodig in die kombuis te verwyl nie. Haar gebakte sagopoeding is egter 'n staatmaker.
Ingredients:
1 litre milk
250ml sago
1ml salt
75ml sugar
75ml butter or margarine
4 eggs
5ml vanilla essence
fine nutmeg
75ml fine apricot jam
Method:
Heat milk thoroughly but do not boil. Add sago and salt to milk and cook until sago is transparent.
Stir in sugar and margarine and remove from stove.
Beat eggs and vanilla essence and add to mixture.
Pour into oven-dish and sprinkle with nutmeg.
Place in a pan with hot water and bake for 45 minutes at 160ºC until light brown.
Put a bit of apricot jam on top of every serving.

Bestanddele:
1 liter melk
250ml sago
1ml sout
75ml suiker
75ml botter of margarien
4 eiers
5ml vanielje geursel
fyn neutmuskaat
75ml fyn appelkooskonfyt
Metode:
Verwarm melk tot net voor kookpunt. Voeg sago en sout by en kook totdat sago deurskynend word.
Roer suiker en margarien by en verwyder van stoof.
Klits eiers en vanielje geursel en voeg by sagomengsel.
Gooi in 'n oondbak en sprinkel neutmuskaat oor.
Sit in 'n pan met warm water en bak vir 45 minute by 160ºC totdat dit ligbruin is.
Sit bietjie appelkooskonfyt op elke porsie.
